LA TENE
La Tene Maps are an Irish and Scottish based thematic map & poster producer and supplier. We work mainly in the fields of Aquaculture, Fisheries, Oil and Gas Exploration, Energy/Power Generation, Marine Environment and Leisure Subjects. We produce and publish a range of maps and posters for clients and ourselves. The company is also involved in production of confidential maps and graphics for clients and also sells a small range of maps and posters produced by itself and other companies through its secure online store.
The company's research arm is active in its own right and participates in EU research projects as well as research projects for Government departments, state bodies and private companies.
These maps show the diversity of aquaculture activity in the area covered by a set of specifically designed symbols to differentiate the species and type of activity carried out. Thus salmon sites are divided into hatcheries, smolt units and marine cages. There is even a special symbol for pump ashore systems. The same applies generally for shellfish e.g. oysters have an additional differentiation between intensively reared oysters (trestles and bags) as opposed to extensive aquaculture (several orders or a managed fishery). These maps are currently available as printed maps, digital prints or as a pdf file.
Seafood maps
La Tene Maps is relatively new to producing Seafood maps but has been producing maps and posters on the fishing and aquaculture industries for over 15 years. Our seafood maps show the location of EU approved and non approved processing centres in Ireland. A set of symbols beside the company name tells the user what is carries out at that particular site, eg; Fresh Demersal, Smoked salmon or value added meals. Usually there is a chart on the map depicting company name, EU approval no. and a telephone number for further contact. Currently only one map is available as a printed map. All are available as digital prints or as a pdf file. Most printed maps carry advertising on the map surround. Digital prints and the pdf files do not carry advertising. All the maps can be customised to an individual customers needs.
Oil & Gas Exploration
La Tene Maps has produced every full colour map on the Irish Oil and Gas exploration sector since the Mid 1980's. Today the company specialises in the offshore areas west of Greenwich (UK). The sectors we cover are the UK Irish Sea and South West Approaches; West of Scotland and West of Shetland, The Faeroe Islands and of course the Irish Sector. The company also offers a concession map service to those companies requiring regular updated concession maps. The company also produces a Directory and Guide on the Irish Sector, which is updated every year to 18 months.
Electricity Generation and Transmission Maps (Including Renewable Energy) La Tene Maps has recently started covering electricity generation and utilities. Today the company has several maps available on the Irish, Scottish and European Sectors and plans to publish further maps on the UK and Europe during 2004/5.
