NORTH BAY SHELLFISH LTD

Background

North Bay Shellfish Ltd , has a history of shellfish farming , and as a shellfish merchant and food developer. The company began to engage as a consultant to shellfish businesses, particularly in the sector of shellfish hatcheries. Since 1998 the company has acted as a centre of research networks designed to look into industry problems including research into Bonamia ( in Ostrea edulis ) and harmful algal blooms.

The Managing Director of the company, Mr Dennis Gowland, has over 18 years experience in shellfish farming, and has been at the forefront of work to enhance the strategic opportunities for shellfish aquaculture in the UK. The company has already worked in co-operation with many of the members of this proposal, including : ASSG, P Oesters, La Tene, RIVO, and SAMS. NBS Ltd has in interest in developing commercial tools which may be marketed, to shellfish farmers and fisheries, as a consultany package.
